Trojans Head to the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's track & field team heads to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships being hosted by Middle Tennessee State University.
The Trojans are coming off a solid performance at the Vulcan Invitational last weekend with several personal bests set.
“As we enter our 4th meet of the indoor season we feel the steps taken to train through the last few weeks are going to pay off,” Coach Jill Lancaster said. “We are very comfortable at the Middle Tennessee facility, which has it challenges.”
Brynn Forsythe set a personal best in the weight throw placing in a tie for fourth with a distance of 16.83 meters at the Vulcan Invitational. This performance moved her to sixth in the Sun Belt Indoor Conference Performance List.
“The upperclassmen have the ability to set the standard as they have done in the past,” said Lancaster.
Hayley Watts just slightly missed a school record in the pole vault with a distance of 3.10 meters, but moved up to ninth in the Sun Belt Indoor Conference Performance List.
Mychea Williams duplicated her personal best with a time of 7.73 seconds in the 60m dash. She moved to tenth place on the Sun Belt Indoor Conference Performance List in the 55m with 7.19 seconds (in the 60m).
Christina Barrett will be the first Troy athlete competing in the multi events, beginning with the 55m hurdles-pentathlon at 8:00 a.m. The first field events begin at 10:00 a.m. with shot put and pole vault.
Competition continues on Sunday with the triple jump opening the day at 9:30 a.m. The 4x400m relay is scheduled to close out the Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships at 5:50 p.m.
“The talent is there – the will to win will lead the way,” said Lancaster. “We look forward to the competition that lies ahead.”
