Trojans Look to Bounce Back Against Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After three straight close losses, the Troy men's basketball team (4-6, 0-2 Sun Belt) travels to face Alabama State (0-7, 0-0 SWAC) on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome in Montgomery, Ala.

The Trojans were defeated on Saturday, 86-82, by Utah Valley in double overtime. Troy led for much of the game, but the Wolverines came back with a furious second half run, culminating in a tip-in at the buzzer to tie the score and send the game into overtime. Ray Chambers scored a career-high 17 points on the night and grabbed eight boards. Emil Jones and Tevin Calhoun each had nine rebounds and scored in double-figures.
Hunter Williams continues to lead the team in scoring, at 11.0 points per game. Antoine Myers and Jones are second, at 10.2 points per game. Jones is leading the Trojans in rebounding, at 5.8 boards per game.
Alabama State enters the game 0-7, after falling to Detroit-Mercy on Monday night. Joshua Freelove leads the Hornets at 14.1 points per game, while Shawntez Patterson is contributing with 11.0 points and 6.5 boards per game.
Troy is 10-10 all-time against Alabama State, including a 66-62 win at Trojan Arena earlier in the season. Jones scored a team-high 18 points on the night, and also led the Trojans in rebounds (8), assists (5) and steals (2).
