Troy Women Set for SBC Opener

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After over a week's rest, the Troy women's basketball team hits the road Thursday for the Trojans Sun Belt opener at UALR. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.

Troy (1-3) last played last Wednesday at Kennesaw State, falling to Owls, 72-65, in Troy's lowest scoring game of the season. Troy, who averages 88.8 points per game, was held to 65 against Kennesaw State thanks in large part to s season-high 30 turnovers.

Troy's 88.8 points per game has them ranked fourth in the nation in scoring offense, behind only Oklahoma State, Connecticut and Duke. The Trojan shave five players averaging double-figure scoring, the only Sun Belt school that claim such a feat.

Troy is shooting 44.8 percent overall as a team and 40.3 percent from deep as a team this season. Both marks are the second best in the Sun Belt and rank in the top 35 nationally.

UALR (4-1) is the only team ahead of Troy in those two categories as they shoot 45.4 percent overall and 41.7 percent from deep as a team. UALR has won three straight games, including the last two at home, with their lone loss of the season coming to Missouri State.

UALR, the reigning Sun Belt Champions, are led by the Sun Belt's top scorer this season, Taylor Gault, who averages 21.2 points per game. The sophomore was the league's Freshman of the Year last season as UALR made its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
