TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team earned the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the seventh consecutive season, with the team posting a 3.21 GPA during 2011-12.
“This award gives credit to how well-rounded our student athletes are,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “We will always strive for more, but it's great to see them being rewarded for hard work in the classroom.”
The NSCAA College Team Academic Award is given annually to teams that post a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, on a 4.0 scale. 723 college teams earned the award in 2012, including 502 women's teams. Troy has made the cut in each of Bentley's five seasons, and seven consecutive seasons overall.
The Trojans finished the 2012 regular season 9-9-2, including three straight, before falling to FIU in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
