Trojans Set for USTA/ITA Regional Championships

TROY, Ala. – Both the Troy men's and women's tennis teams will take part in the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships this weekend. Then men travel to Auburn, Ala., where regional action begins on Thursday while the women travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., and begin play on Friday.

Each regional features a singles main draw, a doubles main draw and a singles consolation. The winners of the singles and doubles main draws automatically qualify for next month's USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in New York.

The Troy men will send 10 individuals to Auburn to compete against players from throughout the stats of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The tournament features 75 players from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Troy, Tulane and UAB.

The Troy women will be competing at Alabama in a tournament with 13 teams including Alabama, Auburn, Jackson State, ULM, LSU, McNeese State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Northwestern State, Samford, Troy, Tulane and UAB.

Draws for the women's USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships have not yet been released. When they are released, draws can be found at TroyTrojans.com or RollTide.com.
