Women's Golf Victorious in Florida; McGraw Finishes Second in Playoff

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Troy women's golf team used its second-best three round total of the year (293) and best team low 54-hole total (898) to win the JU Courtyard Classic on Tuesday, while Taylor McGraw (71-74-74-219) carded the second-best individual low 54-hole total (219) to claim second place in a playoff with Florida Gulf Coast's Georgia Price.
The Trojans sat at 605 after day one, but used by far the best 18-hole tournament total of 293, and second-best on the season, to overcome a two stroke deficit to win the team title by 12 strokes.
As a team Troy was led by senior Sofia Bjorkman (74-72-75-221), who finished tied for fourth, her second fourth place finish of the season.
Brooke Spinks (77-77-71-225) recorded her lowest round of the year, and also showed much improvement in finishing order as she carded a three round total of 225 to finish tied for eighth; that result betters her previous finish of a tie for 37th.
For the second-straight tournament, Langley Vannoy (79-76-71-226) carded a 226, using a season-best third round score of 71 to claim a tie for tenth, also her best finish of the year.
Sara Fennvik (75-78-76-229) also improved statistically as she claimed her best finish of the year, a tie for 14th, after posting her lowest 54-hole total of the season.
Sydney Conrad (81-75-78-234) carded a third round 78, therefore dropping her score, but improved on her season top finish of a tie for 43rd, to a finish of 23rd in the JU Courtyard Classic.
Taylor McGraw (71-74-74-219) entered the final round on Tuesday in third, but used a two-over par 74 to take Georgia Price to a playoff after finishing tied after 18 holes. Price won the playoff, but McGraw carded by far her best finish of the year, second, and also claimed the second-best individual low 54-hole total of the year.
Kayln Hudson (87-76-84-247) claimed a tie for 44th in her first action of the season.
