Trojans Set Sights on WKU Invitational

TROY, Ala. – On the heels of a third place finish at the Golfweek Program Challenge to open the 2012 fall season, the Troy men's golf team will turn its attention to Sunday's opening round of the inaugural 2012 WKU Kenny Perry Invitational.
Practice rounds will begin at The Club at Olde Stone Saturday, and the first of three rounds will begin Sunday at 9:00 a.m. The Club at Olde Stone is designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 2007. The course features bentgrass fairways and greens.
12 teams will take to the course including two ranked in the top-100 by Golfweek. No. 97 Akron, Austin Peay State, Belmont, Charleston Southern, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Morehead State, No. 57 Louisville, Tennessee Tech and Western Kentucky will all be opponents of the Trojans in the 54-hole stroke play tournament.
Tolver Dozier enters as the second ranked golfer in the Sun Belt, averaging a score of 70.00 over just three rounds of play. The sophomore also enters the weekend tied for 21st in the nation, according to rankings by Golfstat.com.
Freshman Jacob Harper, who in his debut at the Golfweek Program Challenge carded a top-10 finish, sits fifth in the conference with a 71.33 stroke average and a low round of 68. Harper also enters as the 80th ranked golfer in the country according to Golfstat.
Jake Tucker enters tied as the 14th-best golfer in Sun Belt play, with a 73.00 stroke average and a lone finish of a tie for 23rd.
Wil Clowdus sits 40th with a 75.00 stroke average, while Phillip Brennan enters 57th with a 76.67 average.
The Trojans will also face-off with six other golfers ranked in the top-100 according to Golfstat. Ross Thomson of Charleston Southern sits tied for 34th with a 70.50 stroke average over six rounds, while teammate Jarrett Swan enters tied for the 80th best stroke average with a 71.33. Jacksonville State's Tomasz Anderson also holds a 71.33 average over six rounds for a standing of a tie for 80th.
Three Cardinals from the University of Louisville are featured in the top-100, including No. 53 Antoine Le Saux, No. 55 Maximilian Walz, and No. 80 Daniel Iceman.
