The Troy Trojan Invitational Cross Country meet was a success again this year with seven teams competing along with many unattached runners.
“Each team enjoyed the new course this year,” Troy coach Jill Lancaster said. “This year was a success, and our team performed well.”
Auburn University's men's team placed first with 44 total points. South Alabama finished second with Troy's men in third.
Troy's Enock Kirui placed third overall for the men, and second collegiately, running a time of 16:13.70.
Kemper Morton and David Hudman finished back-to-back. Morton placed 16th with a time of 17:11.33, and Hudman finished 17th with a time of 17:14.76.
Auburn and South Alabama's women tied for first with 34 points each. Troy's women finished fifth.
Morgan Paulson was the first Trojan to cross the finish line, placing 12th with a time of 11:58.92.
“I exceeded my own expectations,” Paulson said. “I expect that this season will be better than last year, because we are all so talented.”
Allison Paulson finished 24th for Troy with a time of 12:47.55, and Haley Davies finished 26th with a time of 12:56.17.
“I am very proud of how everyone competed today,” coach Casey McDermott said. “We can continue to build the rest of the season, and I believe this was a good starting point.”
The Trojans will be in action again next Friday at the Auburn Invitational with the men beginning at 5 p.m. and the women beginning at 5:45 p.m.
