Trojans Open Homestand Looking for 600th Win

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University volleyball team opens a three-match homestand on Tuesday as Mercer visits Sartain Hall for a 6:00 p.m. match-up.
The Trojans enter the contest looking to notch the 600th win in program history as Sunday's win at Jacksonville marked victory number 599. The match will also mark the final non-conference test for the Trojans before Sun Belt play begins on Friday.
Fans at Sartain Hall on Tuesday night will be treated to a special group of student-athletes as the 3.0 Club from the Spring semester will be recognized.
"Not traveling and playing at home is a big advantage and we're really looking forward to it," head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said. "We're also looking forawd to continuing to get better as we get closer and closer to conference play."

The Trojans enter Tuesday's match as winners of two straight, including a straight-set victory in their last match, on the road at Jacksonville. Troy is looking to improve on its record inside Sartain Hall thus far this season.
In the last two matches, Natasha Kolunija has paced the offensive attack as she has recorded 37 kills and a .347 attack percentage in the two wins. On the season, Kolunija is one of four regular starters averaging over 2.00 kill/set as she sits third on the squad at 2.63. Devin Von Pingel leads Troy and is third in the Sun Belt with a .335 attack percentage on the season.
Despite missing four matches two weeks ago, Alexander Alexandra came back right where she left off as the sophomore setter posted 54 and 40 assists in the two wins last week. Alexander currently sits second in the league with a 10.81 assists/set average.
Defensively, Courtney Cohen paces Troy and the Sun Belt with 260 digs and a 5.20 digs/set average. The sophomore libero has recorded at least 15 digs in 12 straight matches, a span in which the Trojans are 9-3.
Brittany McClelland continues to make her mark defensively as she sits in the Sun Belt's top 10 with a 1.00 blocks/set average.

Series History: Troy leads 12-5
Despite sitting at 4-8, the Bears are playing well as of late as they enter Tuesday's match as winners of their last three matches, including a five-set win over Georgia back on September 10. The Bears down Florida A&M at home on Saturday in their last match.
Jennifer Katona is the only Bear averaging over 2.00 kills/set as she sits at 2.51. Defensively, Charlotte Harris paces Mercer at 4.38 digs/set.
The Bears and Trojans met early this season at Mercer's Bear Brawl. Troy took that match in straight-sets on their way to capturing the tournament title with a perfect 3-0 record. Overall, Troy leads the series over mercer, 12-5, with the last match at Sartain Hall coming in 2004 when the Trojans were still members of the A-Sun.
