TROY
2011 Record: 8-4
Last Time Out: W (3-2) vs. Alabama A&M
Head Coach: Sonny Kirkpatrick (Sixth Season)
The Trojans come into Sunday's match well rested, having last played on Tuesday when they defeated Alabama A&M at home in five-sets. Five-sets is becoming a theme for Troy as the Trojans have played three straight, five-set matches.
On the season, Troy has played a deciding set on five occasions, matching last year's total. In 2010, the Trojans were 1-4 in those matches, but in 2011 they sit at 3-2.
Troy is led by reigning Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week Courtney Cohen who has posted at least 15 digs in each of her last 11 matches. The sophomore libero leads the Trojans and the Sun Belt at 5.13 digs/set.
After missing four matches, Troy setter Alexandra Alexander returned to action on Tuesday, posting 54 assists in her return.
Offensively, Natasha Kolunija, who paced the Trojans with a career-high 20 kills on Tuesday, is one of four regular starters averaging over 2.00 kills/set.
JACKSONVILLE
2011 Record: 7-7
Last Time Out: L (2-3) vs. UTEP
Head Coach: Shaun Kupferberg (Sixth Season)
Series History: JU leads 6-3
The Dolphins will be playing their third match in three days, as they fell to UCF and UTEP on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
JU is led on offense by Taylor Nyquist who averages nearly 3.00 kills/set. On defense, Ashley August is the leads the Dolphins with a digs/set average near 3.50.
The Trojans and Dolphins last met in 2004 when Troy was a member of the A-Sun. Jacksonville, still a member of the A-Sun, won that match in straight-sets at Sartain Hall.
