Troy to Wrap Up Non-Conference Against Jacksonville State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy (4-3-1) soccer team will be wrapping up their 2011 non-conference schedule with in-state rival Jacksonville State. Troy has had a difficult but successful non-conference start this season and their last non-conference match-up holds no exception.

Jacksonville State (1-8) will be looking for revenge from last year's meeting in which the Trojans walked away with 2-0 victory on JSU's own pitch. The Gamecocks enters Sunday's match off of the momentum of their first win of the season against Jackson State.

Jacksonville State has not defeated the Troy since Head Coach Chris Bentley has taken the reins. The last time the Gamecocks defeated the Trojans was in 2007 and still leads the all-time meeting record 2-7.

“They are always a tough opponent and we cannot just expect to get a result,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “We will need to be ready to play a full 90'.”

Troy will look to finish their non-conference schedule strong with the help of the momentum of coming off a two game unbeaten streak, including a double overtime 1-1 draw against Mississippi State.

“Coming off of a hard fought result, we need to make sure we rest and recover,” said Bentley.

Troy will also look to build on success they have had on their home turf this season already. The Trojans are 2-0 at home so far this season and have yet to allow a goal on their home pitch.
