Former Trojan, Robinson Selected to AFL

A former Trojan will spend the 2011 offseason in the Arizona desert.

Former Troy and current Iowa Storm Chasers DH Clint Robinson has been selected to play in the 2011 Arizona Fall League.

Robinson is currently batting .328 with 23 HR and 99 RBI with the Kansas City Royals Triple-A affiliate and was selected a Pacific Coast League Midseason All-Star last summer.

The Arizona Fall League is a six-team league that allows Major League Baseball Clubs to send their top six prospects to play after the regular season has been completed.

The Arizona Fall League's games are played in the Spring Training stadiums used by the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Oakland A's, Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers.

Robinson will be teamed with former LSU outfielder and Tampa Bay Rays prospect Mattie Mahtook, former Jacksonville State outfielder and Braves prospect Todd Cunningham, as well as former no. 1 draft pick and Rays shortstop prospect, Tim Beckham.

During his career at Troy, Robinson helped the Trojans win both the regular season and postseason Sun Belt Conference titles in 2006.

Robinson was also named to the ABCA All-American 2nd-team and the All-Sun Belt 1st-team after batting .364 with a team-leading 17 home runs and 71 RBI as a senior.

While at Troy, Robinson set career records for games played, at bats, runs, hits and total bases.

Robinson was drafted by the Royals in the 25th Round of the 2007 MLB Draft.
