MONROE, La. – There are only six games left on the Sun Belt Conference schedule for the league-leading Troy Trojans. The next three will be played this weekend against ULM beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. at Warhawk Field.
Troy leads second place FIU by one game entering weekend play, but does hold the tie-breaker thank to a series victory in early April at Riddle-Pace Field.
The Trojans are coming off a pair of run-rule wins, most recently a 12-2 win in eight innings over Florida A&M on Tuesday. Conversely, ULM fell to Central Arkansas 11-3 on Tuesday night in Monroe.
The two programs first met in 2007. Troy holds a 10-4 advantage in the series, including a 4-2 mark in games played in Monroe.
Tyler Ray and his nation-leading 11-0 record toe the rubber on Friday against ULM's Kendall Thamm (0-3, 4.93 ERA). Ray is tied with Texas' Taylor Jungmann with identical 11-0 marks this season.
Saturday will feature either Jimmy Hodgskin (2-5, 4.29 ERA) or Shane McCain (1-2, 4.47 ERA) throwing for the Trojans against left-hander Randy Ziegler (4-4, 4.56 ERA) of ULM.
Sunday's finale will feature whichever of Hodgskin/McCain doesn't pitch Saturday versus Drew Granier (3-4, 4.06) from the Warhawks.
Troy's Adam Bryant leads the Sun Belt and is fourth nationally with 23 doubles. The Trojans lead NCAA Division I with 123 two-base knocks.
Saturday's game is set for 6 pm, while Sunday's contest will begin at 1pm. Barry McKnight will bring you all the action from the diamond on the Troy Sports Network by IMG College and WTBF 94.7 FM in Troy and Brundidge beginning 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
