TROY, Ala. (TroyTrojans.com) - The Troy University soccer program spent Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 working to promote Healthy Lifestyles in the local Elementary School.
"Our staff and student-athletes were fantastic putting this on," TROY head coach Chris Bentley said. "They could not have been more enthusiastic and professional."
Prevalence of obesity among children has more than tripled in the last 30 years. Aside from physical appearance, there are severe health risks associated with childhood obesity such as high blood pressure (Hypertension) and Type II Diabetes.
Statistics show that the majority of children categorized as obese stay that way throughout adulthood.
"It is our hope that actively participating in fun physical activity with these elementary students will promote health and fitness as something they would want to do daily," Bentley said.
