FIRST ROUND TEE TIMES
The Troy University Women's golf team will be back in action on Monday in the Lady Eagle Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Trojans are coming off earning a share of the Samford Intercollegiate title last week and are in the middle of three straight weeks of tournament play.
Senior Liz Balkcom took medalist honors in the Samford tournament and will be looking to continue her solid play this week.
“The girls had a good practice round today and got to play the course on Saturday as well,” Trojans coach Matt Terry said. “There are a couple of areas we have to watch for, but they got a good feel for the greens in their practice rounds.”
The event will be played at Hattiesburg Country Club which will play to a par 72 over 6,143 yards.
Other teams in the tournament include Belmont, Jackson State, Memphis, South Alabama, Stephen F. Austin, West Florida and the host Southern Miss.
The tournament will cover 36 holes over two days. The Trojans will be paired with South Alabama during the opening round of play.
“If we can hit the ball decently and putt well, they'll have another opportunity to win a tournament,” Terry said. “Liz is coming off her first collegiate win, which is exciting. It would be good to see them play well in the middle of a three week stretch.”
