Seven Trojans score points in the final indoor meet of the season

JONESBORO, Ark. - The Troy University indoor track and field team closed their season with an eighth place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Monday evening on the campus of Arkansas State University.

The Trojans also had seven scorers in the meet this weekend.

Sophomore Veronica Bryant competed in her first multi event in her career, finishing sixth in the pentathlon with a total of 3,311 points.

Meanwhile, sophomore Ja-Courtney Alexander recorded two top four finishes on the day in the 200 meters and 400 meters. She placed fourth in the 200-meters with a time of 24.62 seconds, and finished second in the 400-meters with a time of 55.52 seconds.

She was joined by freshman Amiracle Watson in the 400-meters, finishing seventh with a time of 58.50 seconds.

Sylvia Chirchir ended her indoor career with a seventh place finish in the 5000 meters, coming in with a time of 17:55.24.

The 4x400-meter relay team scored points for the Trojans in the last event of the day with a sixth place finish. The relay team consisted of Amiracle Watson, Ja-Courtney Alexander, Ariel Cavazos, and Catelyn Dake; finishing with a time of 3:55.14.

Karen Wyatt concluded an impressive freshman season with her point garnering eighth place finish in the weight throw this morning, throwing a length of 16.39 meters.

The Trojans now change gears and prepare for the outdoor season which starts in a couple of weeks.
