Trojans Looking for Three Wins in a Row
GAME NOTES :: LISTEN LIVE :: LIVE VIDEO :: LIVE STATS
There are only two home games left this season for the Troy Trojans and the next chance for Troy fans to check out the Men of Troy is Thursday when MTSU visits Sartain Hall.
Tip-off of the contest between the pair of rivals is tentatively set for 7:30 pm.
Troy lost the first match-up between the two teams this season by a score of 63-51 back on January 20 in Murfreesboro. The Trojans shot just 32.7 percent as Middle Tennessee opened up a 15-0 lead and never looked back.
The win started a string of 7-of-8 wins for the Blue Raiders that is still intact.
The Trojans (7-17, 5-7) failed to have a single player register double-figures against MTSU. It marked the second time this season Troy had suffered that fate.
It also occurred against Utah State on December 23. The last time prior to the USU occurrence was more than 13 years ago way back in 1997 in the season opener at Baylor.
James Washington scored 20 points in the first meeting this season between Troy and Middle Tennessee (14-12, 9-4). He leads the Blue Raiders in scoring at 15.3 ppg.
Troy is looking for its third-straight win for the first time this season and will need leading scorer Vernon Taylor to get there. Taylor, owner of NCAA Division I's longest active streak of made free throws at 30, is averaging a team-best 15.5 ppg.
The Cross, S.C.-native scored just six points and was 1-of-9 from the floor in the first meeting.
The Trojans will also have the services of reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week Travis Lee. Lee became the third Troy player to receive the honor this season. Troy is one of only two Sun Belt teams to win the award three times this year.
Over the last three seasons only WKU (12) has won the award more than the Trojans (7).
Barry McKnight and Jerry Miller will bring you all the action from courtside on the Troy Sports Network by IMG College beginning at 7 pm with the State Farm Pregame Show.
