Trojans to Host WBCA Pink Zone Game Thursday night

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University women's basketball program and the Troy University Department of Athletics will host their annual WBCA Pink Zone contest this Thursday night against Middle Tennessee State University at Sartain Hall.
The game tips at 5:15 pm, with pregame and halftime festivities planned to honor those who have survived breast cancer. There will also be different areas in the arena where attendees can make donations to help find a cure for breast cancer. The Department of Athletics will be selling pink wristbands in the lobby, with all donations going to help find a cure and fund research.
The women's basketball program and the department of athletics is asking everyone in attendance to wear pink, and to raise awareness of the disease.
This is the second consecutive year, the Troy women's basketball program and the Department of Athletics have teamed up to host their annual WBCA Pink Zone game in their next to last home game of the season. Ironically it is the second consecutive season that the Trojans will be taking on Middle Tennessee in the contest.
The WBCA Pink Zone is an annual event each February in which the world of college basketball teams with the WBCA to help raise awareness of breast cancer.
It will also be held in conjunction with the Trojans' NCAA Pack the House Challenge. “Pack the House” is a national effort in which conferences and institutions compete to build at¬tendance. One winner from each of the 31 conferences and one from a group of independent institutions will be named. Selections are based on marketing plan creativity and attendance criteria. The NCAA will award prizes and donate money to the nonprofit organization of each winning institution's choice.
