Trojan soccer falls to the Mean Green 4-1 on Friday.
Denton, Texas – The Troy soccer team fell in their third straight road match against North Texas on Friday. The loss comes during a tough consecutive series of road matches that began against Florida International and will complete in Denver.
Troy (7-6-1; 2-3) fell behind in the 2' as the strong Mean Green attack struck off the foot of Michelle Young.
“Again we gave up an early goal today and never really found a rhythm,” said head coach Chris Bentley.
North Texas (10-3-1; 5-0) would attack once more in the 21' to head into the second half up 2-0 on Troy. The Trojans would answer back in the 76' with an unassisted goal from Samantha Morgan. The goal would be Morgan's first goal of the season.
North Texas, however would secure their victory tacking on two final goals in the 80' and 88' minute. The Mean Green defeated the Trojans with a final score of 4-1.
“We had moments here and there of good soccer, but that's not enough against any team in our conference,” Bentley said. “We need to regroup for a tougher opponent Sunday.”
Troy now prepares for their toughest matchup on the road against the number one team in the conference Denver. Denver is currently on a 18 game conference winning streak. Troy will be looking to end that streak on the Pioneers own turf on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
