Women's Hoops Begins Preseason Practice

Troy University's Women's Basketball team opened preseason practice today at Sartain Hall.
The Trojans are looking to improve upon last year's performance with seniors DeAngela Sword and Tenia Manuel along with junior Sophie Kleeman back as starters.
Troy also returns two other players with previous starting experience. Juniors Sarah McAppion and Kirsten Smith are both coming off redshirt seasons due to injuries.
“Our goal is to become the best team we are capable of becoming. Nothing more, nothing less,” head coach Michael Murphy said.
“What we focus on is being the best team we can be offensively. Nobody scores on their own.” Murphy said. “I expect us to play hard, with a purpose, and with a passion.”
The Trojans open the season with a home game against Winthrop on November 13. They will have a pair of closed scrimmages prior to the season-opener in order to get a taste of competition before the games begin to count on the record.
