Bowling Green, Ky – The Trojans had a successful day at the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Championships.
“We had multiple PR's set today,” said Coach Casey McDermott. “This will be great to lead into the track season.”
Troy had three seniors, Agnes Kapsoiyo, Alec Hamm, and Adam Vise, competing in their last career meets.
For the women, Kapsoiyo ran a time of 20:14.1 on the 5K course.
“Being my last race in college, it's exciting but it's also emotionally sad since I'm not going to be able to compete with other student athletes,” said Kapsoiyo.
Junior Morgan Paulson was the top performer for the lady Trojans once again with a time of 19:47.5.
Sophomore Haley Davies set a PR on the 5K course with a time of 20:21.8.
For the men, Hamm ran a time of 27:40.5 on the 8K course which set a PR for him.
“All the training since the training since the beginning of June paid off for my final race as a senior,” said Hamm. “We finished the season off great and gave it our all.”
Vise ran a time of 28:52.4 on the 8K course, also setting a PR in his final race.
“To come out in my last race and set a PR felt amazing,” said Vise. “It felt good to go out there and give it my all.”
Sophomore Kemper Morton was the first Trojan to cross the finish line setting a PR with a time of 27:31.4.
Freshmen Sam Ammons and Nigel Mosley both set PR's on the 8K course. Ammons ran a time of 28:58.7, and Mosley ran a time of 29:23.8.
“I'm very proud of both teams today,” said Coach McDermott. “The seniors really finished their last race positive.”
The Trojans will now start preparing for track season after finishing the 2011 cross country season with many positive times to build on.
