Weathers Earns Preseason All-Sun Belt

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Sun Belt Conference announced its 2011-12 Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Teams as well as the Preseason Coaches' Poll on Tuesday, with one Trojan finding his name on the short list.
Junior point guard Will Weathers has been named to the conference's Second Team as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Weathers quickly became one of the top point guards in the Sun Belt, earning Third Team All-Sun Belt honors last season. The then sophomore led the league and finished sixth in the nation with 6.6 assists per game while his 178 total assists rank as the fourth highest total in Troy's Division I history. The New Orleans, La., native dished out 10+ assists on six different occasions, including a season-high 13 assists twice.
He posted six double-doubles including a rare 10 rebound, 13 assist double-double against Idaho State.
Weathers also paced the Sun Belt with an average of 1.9 steals per game
The flashy point guard proved to be a scorer as well as he place in the Top 20 in the league with a 12.0 points per game average
He was named Sun Belt Player of the Week on January 10, 2011 after scoring 32 against Louisiana-Lafayette and 27 against UALR in consecutive games.
Weathers also led the league with a 37.0 minute per game average and played 40 minutes or more on nine different occasions.
Weathers and the Trojans will tip-off their season with an exhibition against West Alabama on Monday, November 7 inside Sartain Hall.
