Tournament Continues in Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - The Troy University men's tennis team opened the Auburn Fall Invitational with three singles victories against SEC for South Carolina Friday afternoon.
The Trojans' were forced to play just five singles matches against South Carolina due to the Gamecocks bringing only five players to the tournament. The only losses for the Trojans occured at number one and number three singles.
Meanwhile, Branko Weber defeated South Carolina's Ivan Cressoni 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles to pick up the first victory for the Trojans. At number four singles, Xavier Masson defeated South Carolina's Chris Sheehan 6-3, 6-1; and number five singles Guilherme Sahadi defeated South Carolina's Harry Manzies 6-4, 6-4 to earn the final victory of the day for the Trojans.
Meanwhile, Aurelien Tave fell to South Carolina's Diego Cubas 6-0, 6-1; while Mario Rolemberg fell to South Carolina's Ivan Machado 7-5, 6-2.
In doubles action on the day, the Trojans team of Masson and Weber fell to South Carolina's Cubas and Machado at number one, 8-5; while teammates Rolemberg and Bastian Maucher fell to South Carolina's Cressoni and Sheehan, 8-3. At number four, the team of Masson and Weber defeated Embry-Riddle's Alex Perez and Sean De La Bastide, 8-1.
The tournament resumes Saturday morning and concludes on Sunday afternoon.
