Trojans Win in Embry-Riddle

AUBURN, Ala. - The Troy University men's tennis team won four of their six singles matches Saturday morning against Embry-Riddle at the Auburn Fall Invitational, marking the second time that the Trojans did so in as many days.
Branko Weber won his second consecutive match at number two, defeating Embry-Riddle's Peter Francis in a hard-fought three-set match; 6-3, 6-7, 7-5. At number three, Xavier Masson defeated Charlie Rice of Embry-Riddle in straight sets 6-2, 6-0; while at number four Mario Rolemberg won his second match in as many days when he defeated Zander Woodford-Smith 6-2, 6-4.
The final victory of the day for the Trojans came at number five when Bastian Maucher defeated Luke Maricic of Embry-Riddle; 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1. The only loss of the day for Troy came at number one where Aurelien Tave fell to Embry-Riddle's Jan Hoekzema 6-2, 7-6 (8).
In doubles action, the team of Rolemberg and Maucher fell to Embry-Riddle's Hoekzema and Francis 8-6; while the Trojans won at number two and three. At number two doubles, the team of Weber and Masson defeated the team of Rice and Maricic of Embry-Riddle, 9-7; while the team of Tave and Guilherme Sahadi defeated the team of Woodford-Smith and David Spennare of Embry-Riddle, 8-5.
Troy returns to action on Sunday in the final day of the Auburn Fall Invitational, where they will face the host Tigers. It will be the final match of the fall for the Trojans.
