Trojans Lead UCF When Rains Come

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Troy University men's tennis team led the University of Central Florida 1-0 before the rains came washing away the match, but not before an upset occurred.

The Trojans were able to clinch the doubles point by winning on court one and court three. The number three doubles team of Guilherme Sahadi and Anas Rouchdi won the first match of the day when they defeated Central Florida's Brock Sakey and Eugene Dolgovykh 8-5. The match was the first of the season Rouchdi, who sat out the first two matches of the season for the Trojans.

Although the Trojans won at number three, the biggest victory of the day came at number one doubles for the Trojans. The team of Luis Henrique Grangeiro and Mario Rolemberg defeated the nation's 21st-ranked doubles team of Marc Rocafort of Central Florida, 8-3, the first victory of the season for a Trojans' team over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Although the Trojans won the match, they fell at number two doubles when the team of Xavier Masson and Branko Weber fell to the team from Central Florida (Joe Delinks and Johan Beigart), 8-3.

If the match can be restarted 48 hours from the time of cancellation, then it will be started from where the match ended. If it cannot be restarted within 48 hours, then the match will be restarted from the beginning. The match is scheduled to be made up during Troy University's spring break in March.

Troy returns to action on Saturday at 2 pm against Georgia Southern University in Orlando.
