Trojans Set to Battle Southern Miss

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University men's tennis team returns to action at home Thursday afternoon, a week removed from being in the top 75 in the nation.
Troy (6-3) has won three of their last four matches, with their only loss coming against Winthrop on Friday during that stretch. The Trojans were able to rebound with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette in their final match before Thursday's home tussle with the Golden Eagle.
The Trojans are led this season by freshman Luis Henrique Grangeiro, who has been the Trojans' No. 1 player all season. The freshman has recorded a 7-2 record in singles, winning his last four matches - which included two matches at number one and a match each at three and four singles. He started the season off with a three-match winning streak, before suffering back-to-back losses to nationally-ranked opponents from Ole Miss and Auburn.
He has also teamed with Mario Rolemberg at number one doubles for the Trojans, recording a 6-3 record at the position for the Trojans. The team has reeled off three consecutive victories, matching their best of the season when they won three in a row at the beginning of the 2010 campaign.
The doubles team of Xavier Masson and Branko Weber has also excelled on the courts this season for the Trojans, recording a 5-4 record overall at number two doubles - but have won their last three matches. At the number three position, the team of Guilherme Sahadi and Anas Rouchdi have won four consecutive matches at number three doubles, meaning the Trojans have not dropped a doubles match in the last three matches.
The match begins at 2:30 pm at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on the campus of Troy University. Admission to all tennis matches is free.
