Trojans Run Away from UNO

NEW ORLEANS - The Troy University men's tennis team pulled away from their opponent on the hardcourts, defeating the University of New Orleans 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.
Troy improved to 8-3 on the season by winning their third straight match while UNO dropped to 1-5 on the season.
The Trojans jumped ahead early by winning the doubles points, as they have done in all but two matches this season. The Trojans' Mario Rolemberg and Luis Henrique Grangeiro defeated Benjamin Bouhana and Stepan Siska 8-4 at number one, while the team of Guilherme Sahadi and Anas Rouchdi defeated Guilherme Rebolo and Rohit Chivukula by a similar result on the number three court.
The other doubles' match was an 8-6 win for Branko Weber and Xavier Masson over Ben Smith and Abdelrahman Zaki at number two, allowing Troy to wrap up the sweep.
In singles' play, UNO forced three sets in a pair of matches.
Smith defeated Weber 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 at number three for the Privateers' lone win of the day while Bouhana took the first set against Grangeiro before retiring in the third set and falling by a 3-6, 6-0, 2-0 result on the number one court.
Troy won in straight sets in the remaining matches. The closest of the remaining matches occured at two where Tave defeated Siska of New Orleans 6-3, 7-6.
Troy returns to action against Nicholls State, before hitting the road to Ft. Lauderdale for a pair of matches.
