TROY, Ala. - The Troy University men's tennis team will find out its fate in the 2010 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships courtesy of the NCAA Selection Show on Tuesday afternoon.
The show will be aired on ESPNews between the hours of 4 and 5 pm, and the Trojan tennis team will watch the excitement unfold at Yanni's Steakhouse on Highway 231.
Troy (20-4) finished the season winning four consecutive matches to capture their first-ever Sun Belt Conference championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Field of 64. The Trojans also achieved their highest ranking in school history at 51st following the 4-1 championship victory over Denver.
The Trojans made a push toward the postseason early in the season after they fell from the rankings following a defeat at the hands of Winthrop. However, following that match, the Trojans reeled off 11 consecutive victories from the last week in February to the first week in April. During that span, the Trojans jumped back into the rankings and have been in the top 75 for six consecutive weeks.
To top things off for the Trojans, a pair of student-athletes were named All-Conference during the week. Freshman Luis Henrique Grangeiro was named to the all-conference singles team; while he joined partner Mario Rolemberg as one of three doubles teams announced as All-Conference. Rolemberg went on to be named the Most Valuable Player at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, following the conclusion of the championship match.
Troy will be making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and the brackets will be posted on TroyTrojans.com on Tuesday night following the announcement.Skylar Meade SBC Tournament Postgame - Southern Miss
