AUBURN, Ala. - The Troy University track and field program completed a light day of competition on the first day of the Auburn Tiger Track Classic, competing in four events on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Lizzie Clough narrowly missed her personal best in the javelin on Friday evening, finishing with a distance of 40.69 meters (133-06.00). The throw is her second-best throw of the season and was good enough to place her third in the competition behind Maggie Mullen of Ohio State and Allison Story of Mississippi State.
In the men's javelin, freshman Matt Braswell continued his hot-throwing in the early portion of the schedule as he recorded a throw of 59.23 meters (194-04) to finish sixth overall. Meanwhile, teammate Mackenzie Howell was able to bounce back this week with a throw of 53.05 meters (174-00) to finish just ahead of teammate Heath Fincher, with a distance of 49.57 meters (169-07).
A pair of student-athletes returned to the cage this week and finished ninth and 10th respectively in the men's hammer throw. Sophomore Caleb Osborne finished ninth in the competition with a throw of 40.63 meters (133-04.00), while Allan Mason finished 10th with a throw of 38.59 meters (126-07.00) in the competition. Freshman Cody Bahrke was scheduled to participate in the event but was a late scratch for the Trojans.
In the women's hammer throw, freshman Brynn Forsythe finished 17th overall in the competition. She finished with a distance of 45.50 meters (149-03), while teammate Nicole Studstill was the only other Trojan in the field and she was unable to record a distance.
