Trojan Women Head to South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. - The Troy University women's tennis team will look to extend their current winning streak to seven matches, when they travel here Sunday afternoon for a match with in-state rival South Alabama.
Troy (7-7) has not lost since February 27 on the road against Tulane, a 4-3 decision in New Orleans. During the seven match streak, the Trojans have defeated conference foes New Orleans, ULM, Arkansas State and UALR.
The Trojans number two player, Lauren Simpson, will look to continue her personal five-match winning streak on Sunday afternoon. Last week, the freshman posted a 9-1 overall record in singles and doubles - with her only loss coming with teammate Emma Smith in doubles at Kennesaw State when the pair was moved up to number one for the day.
For the season, the Trojans have been led in singles by Rosaura Ramirez-Vega with a 9-5 record; including winning her last six matches and posting a 7-3 record in her last 10 matches. Simpson is 8-6 on the season, while senior Stephanie Vieira has posted an 8-4 record, winning her last three matches and posting a 6-3 record in her last 10 matches.
In doubles play, the Trojans are led by the number one team of Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt who have posted an 11-4 record this season in dual play. They duo has won seven consecutive matches and have posted a 9-1 record in their last 10 matches. The team of Simpson and Smith has posted a 9-6 record, including winning their last four and posting a 7-3 record in their last 10 matches.
The match is scheduled to begin Sunday at 11 am at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts, on the campus of the University of South Alabama.
