The women's hammer is continuing at Mike Long Track ... and there is the announcement we have been anticipating all day - LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE CLEAR THE TRACK AS WE ARE UNDER A LIGHTNING WARNING, PLAY HAS BEEN SUSPENDED PLEASE SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. We will be in a delay for at least three hours here at Florida State, and we have no idea if we will be able to finish the hammer and begin the javelin this evening due to the weather. When we know more, we will come back and update this blog and publish the release for the first day of the meet.

The results are in from the shot put in the heptathlon, with Chontia Allen finishing with a throw of 8.31 meters ... In the 200-meters, Allen ran a time of 27.50 seconds to finish off the day in the heptathlon. At the conclusion of the heptathlon, Allen stands in ninth place with 2393 points heading into the second day. On the second day of the competition, Allen has to look forward to

The heptathlon just finished up the final two events with the rain beginning to fall here in Tallahassee. The women's hammer throw is continuing at this point with the light rain falling.

The hammer results are being announced right now and Troy's Cody Bahrke finished second with a throw of 49.41 meters - finishing just behind Florida State's Travis Whitfield at 59.02 meters. And the skies are getting a little darker as the storms begin to roll in and get closer. The throw by Bahrke is the second longest throw of the season for the freshman, trailing only last week at the Morehouse Relays.

The
weather statement has been announced over the public address system,
saying that we are under a lightning advisory under 7 pm (EST) tonight
... The meet is continuing at this time, with just cloudy skies, and
looking at the radar things could be on the go for the next hour. The
decathlon has concluded with Bullington finishing fourth in the day's
final event with a time of 52.17 seconds in the 400-meters. He
currently stands at third overall in the standings at the conclusion of
the first day of the meet.

Still
no rain, still inching closer to Tallahassee as we speak ... but we do
have some results from the heptathlon and decathlon. In the decathlon,
Bullington finished tied for second in the high jump with a clearance
of 1.97 meters (6-05.50) - the jump was just 0.01 meters short of a
personal best for the junior. Heading into the final event of the day,
Bullington stands third overall with a point total of 2767 - just 300
points behind the two leaders from North Dakota State.
In the heptathlon, after a long high jump, Chontia Allen finished 13th in the event with a jump of 1.43 meters (4-08.25) to earn 544 points in the event.
The last event for the men is underway for the day, with the third event beginning in the heptathlon and the hammer continuing for the men and women. The javelin will be the last event of the day in the meet, with the 10,000 meters being moved to Friday.

hammer has started, the men and women are still in the high jump
competition and the countdown clock has begun on what time the rain
will get here ... it is getting very close and will be here around 3 pm
(EST) or so, we will keep you updated.

The
official results are in for the women's 100-meter hurdles and Allen
finished eighth overall with a time of 15.64 seconds, just 0.43 seconds
out of seventh place.
Meanwhile, the men are all ready through their third event of the day and Grant Bullington another third place finish - this time in the shot put. The junior went for a distance of 10.08 meters (33-01.00) to earn another 490 points to his total on the day. After the shot put, Bullington stands in third place overall with 1991 points - trailing only Weston Leutz of North Dakota State (2229 points) and Ted Rud of North Dakota State (2226 points).

The FSU Relays began with a bang on Thursday morning, actually a shot when the 100-meters of the decathlon began the meet on the campus of Florida State.
Troy junior Grant Bullington has competed in two events thus far in the decathlon, finishing in second and third in the two events respectively. Bullington finished second in the opening event of the decathlon, running a time of 11.39 seconds - finishing just behind Weston Leuetz of North Dakota State at 10.99 seconds. He followed that up with a third place finish in the long with a distance of 6.62 meters to place himself third through the opening two events.
Meanwhile, junior Chontia Allen has begun competition in the heptathlon just finishing the 100-meter hurdles and getting ready for the high jump competition. Once we have results they will be posted ... the unofficial results in the hurdles have Allen eighth in the event.
