NEW ORLEANS - For the fourth time in as many years, and the fourth time since joining the Sun Belt Conference just five seasons ago, the Troy University women's basketball team has an all-conference selection.
Junior forward Donette McNair led the Trojans in scoring and rebounding throughout the year, thus earning Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference as voted on by the coaches and a panel of media representing each team.
The junior averaged 13.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, while starting 26 of the 28 games this season. She averaged 25.6 minutes per game, and joined the 700 point-600 rebound club this season at Troy.
McNair recorded 15 or more rebounds six times, including breaking the NCAA Division I single-game record at Troy with 19 rebounds against Morgan State earlier this season. She also broke the single-season NCAA Division I record at Troy for rebounds with 271. The junior recorded 11 double-doubles this season, raising her career total to 16.
She is currently in the top 15 in scoring in the conference, and third in rebounding. McNair ranks in the top 10 in field goal percentage, and leads the conference in defensive rebounds per game. She is currently 37th in the nation in rebounding in the nation.
The Trojans open up conference play on Saturday against eighth-seeded Arkansas State at 12:15 pm. The game can be heard on WTBF-94.7 FM with Travis Jarome and Jerry Miller providing all the action, beginning with the pregame show at 11:55 am from the Convention Center Court in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
