TROY AND THE NIT QUICK HITTERS
- Troy head coach Don Maestri is 64-56 all-time against current members of the Sun Belt Conference. The win over MTSU on February 4 was Maestri's 370th of his coaching career. Maestri holds a 477-335 record during his 28-year coaching career.
- Troy finished the regular season averaging a league-best 76.5 ppg and second in FG% (48.2%). Troy was also third in 3-point FG% (38.1). The Trojans' FG% ranks in the top 20 nationally.
- Troy's Sun Belt regular season title is the first for the program since winning the Atlantic Sun regular season title in 2004 and the 11th overall in school history. Troy won its first SBC title in just its fifth season of conference membership. Troy also earned a bye through the first round of the Sun Belt tournament for the second straight season.
- This is Troy's second-ever NIT appearance. The Trojans fell to Niagara 87-83 in the first round of the 2004 tournament.
- The Trojans are 0-6 all-time against Ole Miss. The two programs last met in 2007.
- Troy is 0-1 all-time as a participant in the National Invitational Tournament. The Trojans earned a berth in the 2004 Postseason NIT following a loss to Central Florida in the Atlantic Sun championship. That year the Trojans earned an A-Sun regular season title, but lost to UCF 60-55 in the championship game.
- Troy led Niagara by eight points with seven minutes to go in its only previous NIT match-up, but the Purple Eagles used a 21-9 run on their home floor to close out the Trojans and advance to the second round.
