TROY, Ala. - The Troy University women's basketball is set to wrap up the regular season this week as they travel to the state of Arkansas to take on UALR and Arkansas State.
Troy (11-15, 4-12 Sun Belt) still has a shot at the eighth seed overall in the tournament, but at this point could be between the eighth seed and the 13th seed depending on the outcome of certain games this week in the Sun Belt.
Before they set their sights on the conference tournament, the Trojans must first focus on UALR (22-5, 14-1 Sun Belt), the West Division champion and current top seed for the upcoming conference tournament. The Trojans are led by Chastity Reed, an all-conference selection last season, who is averaging just under 25 points a game and is second in the conference in scoring. She is also one of the top rebounders in the conference.
Meanwhile, Troy has a pair of players who are averaging double figures in junior Donette McNair and senior Brittnie Davis. McNair is one of the top scorers and rebounders in the conference as she averages 13.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. She recently recorded her 10th double-double of the season against Florida Atlantic, and the 15th of her career. Meanwhile, Davis is averaging 12.9 points per game and four rebounds per game this season. She recently scored her 600th career point and is just one steal away from her 100th of her career.
Tip is set for 7 pm at Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, and can be heard on WTBF-94.7 FM beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 pm.
This trip will be the first of two consecutive trips to the state of Arkansas, as next week the Trojans will travel to Hot Springs for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
