TROY, Ala. - The Troy University soccer team was very busy on and off the field this semester. Aside from class work and training, the Trojans have been active in the community.
On October 9, the Trojans' soccer team attended the Pike Animal Shelter's 4th annual Fur Fest, which was held at the Troy Recreation Center with over 300 attendees. They helped in raising nearly $4000 towards the shelter's goal of building a quality, accessible shelter for the community.
The Trojans served as judges for the Shelter's pet costume contest and helped out with other tasks to help the fundraising for the animal shelter.
"We want to thank everyone who had a part in making this event possible," said Kristin Strickland, chair of this year's Fur Fest. "It takes all contributions, large and small, and the tremendous support of this community to make events like this one such a success."
On November 29, the local State Champion U-13 boys soccer team, coached by Dr. Ken LaBrant, came and trained with the Lady Trojans for the day. The afternoon gave a chance for the boys to work directly with the Trojans and see what a college setting is all about.
Also on December 1, Troy's U-11 girl's soccer team also came to train with the Troy soccer team. The U-11 girl's team was State Champions for their age division this year.
“We would like to thank the Trojans for spending time with our girls,” said head coach Tim Bobo. “It means a lot.”
