Official Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The season of firsts continues for the Troy University women's soccer team, as they received another accolade over the Christmas holidays.
Senior Jill Pinder (Pensacola, Fla./Louisiana Tech) became the school's first selection to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar America Team on Thursday afternoon. The midfielder was just one of two players from the Sun Belt Conference chosen for the honor.
She was one of 76 chosen for the honor in the country and one of 35 in NCAA Division I.
Pinder, who was already rewarded for her work on the field with selections to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team and the NSCAA All-Region Third team, was named to the NSCAA Scholar All America Third Team with an overall grade point average of 3.42.
"This is a phenomenal achievement and Jill has certainly earned this," Troy head coach Chris Bentley said. "To be selected for this after being named All-Region and All-Conference this year, really shows what a complete student-athlete she is. Our program could not be more proud of her achievements, as they exemplify what we are all about."
Pinder finished up her playing career this past season, but not before becoming the school's all-time leader in goals and points scored. She also holds the school record for goals in a single-season, doing so in her sophomore year.
The senior helped the Trojans to their best conference, and best overall finish is program history.
