Trojans Play First of Two Games This Week on Tuesday Night

Troy faces Birmingham-Southern for the seventh time in school history on Tuesday night

TROY, Ala. – For the second time this season, and the second time in nine days, the Troy University women's basketball team will play games with just one day off. The only difference in between the two, is that this time the Trojans return home off a road trip to take on Birmingham-Southern College Tuesday night.

The game is set to tip at 7:05 pm at Sartain Hall, and will be the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools; but the first since 2006.

Troy (0-4) is in search of their first victory of the season after dropping three road games to kick off the year, and will look to do against Birmingham-Southern (2-0) whom they have defeated the last three times they have faced off.

Senior Donette McNair (New London, Conn.) leads the Trojans averaging 17 points and 11.3 points per game, but was held to just four points on Sunday against Florida Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, junior DeAngela Sword (Montgomery, Ala.) is coming off a career game in which she scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Florida Gulf Coast.

The Trojans will be without the services of junior guard Kirsten Smith (Pensacola, Fla.) for the fourth consecutive game, after she was injured in the season opener on the road.

The contest on Tuesday night will mark the fifth game in 12 days, and will be the first of two games this week as they Trojans travel to fifth-ranked Xavier on Friday afternoon.
