Troy soccer will play its next to last home match on Sunday afternoon
TROY, Ala. - The Troy University soccer team will play its next to last home match of the season on Sunday afternoon at the Troy Soccer Complex; however, prior to the contest the team will honor the five seniors on this year's team.
Sydney Beasley, April Madden, Ceil Martinec, Jill Pinder and Carley Zurfluh will have just two matches remaining on their home turf when they are honored prior to kick at 12 noon.
The five have been a constant for the Trojans over the last two years in terms of victories, offensive productivity and defensive prowess. They have helped the Trojans achieve the most wins for a senior class over four years during their tenure, they have helped the team to just its second berth in the Sun Belt Conference Soccer Championship Tournament and they have played a vital part in the lowering of the Trojans' goals against average during that time.
Offensively, Pinder is the school's single-season goals leader with 14 and just this year became the school's all-time leader in career goals with 21.
They have each achieved success on the field, but also have achieved it off the field over their career. Each is very active in community service, and each has achieved a 3.0 grade point average or higher during their career. They are all on pace to graduate with a degree from Troy University when their playing career is over.
The five will be honored 15 minutes prior to kick between Troy and the Sun Belt Conference-leading Pioneers of Denver.
The match begins at 12 noon, and can be seen on All-Access via TroyTrojans.com. Admission to all soccer matches is free.
