TAMPA, Fla. – The Troy University men's tennis team returned to action Friday afternoon, just a few days after playing in the ITA Southern Regional in Tuscaloosa as they took on the University of South Florida in fall action.
The Trojans dropped five of the six singles matches with the lone win coming from Anas Rouchdi, as he claimed a three-set victory over Juan Acuna 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. The Trojans struggled in the other five, as they dropped all straight set matches with Sami Ghorbel having the best chance when we dropped his first set in a tiebreaker to Romain Deridder before falling in the second at 6-2.
In doubles play, the same thing occurred for the Trojans as they dropped all but one doubles match on the afternoon.
The team of Rouchdi and Mario Rolemberg returned to their winning ways from last week as they claimed an 8-6 victory over Wael Kilani and Deridder.
The Trojans will return to the courts tomorrow and continue play this weekend against the likes of LSU and Jacksonville in Tampa.
