TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The third day of the 2010 ITA Southeast Regional drew to a close on the campus of the University of Alabama Sunday evening with a pair of Troy University men's tennis players vying for a title.
A pair of Trojans found their way into the quarterfinal round of the tournament, with one winning and the other falling in that round.
Branko Weber fell to Tanner Stump from Mississippi State in a three-set thriller in the quarterfinals. Weber fell 3-6, 6-3, 10-8; missing out on a chance to play a teammate in the consolation final as Jamie Eccleton found his way into the finals after a walkover victory in the semifinals.
Eccelton also fell to Stump, although he fell to him in the consolation finals, in a three-set thriller. After falling in the first set, Eccelton came back to win the second set but it wasn't enough as he fell 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
The tournament will conclude on Monday on the campus of the University of Alabama, with results being posted as soon as they become available.
