Second Day Of ITA Southeast Regional In The Books

A pair of Trojans are still alive heading into Sunday's draw

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The second day of the 2010 ITA Southeast Region drew to a close on Saturday with several Troy University men's tennis players advancing into the next round of play.
After falling in his first match of the fall season, senior Mario Rolemberg bounced back by winning his match in the consolation Round of 32. He defeated Holger Norregaard of Tulane 6-4, 6-4 to move into the Round of 16. Unfortunately, he fell to Idan Mark of Tulane in that round in a hard-fought three set match; 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
Branko Weber came back and won his first consolation singles match, defeating Christian Kuehne of Alabama in a hard-fought match 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. He is set to face Stefan Szadnski of LSU - a straight set winner over Trey Walston of Alabama - on Sunday morning at 9 am.
Meanwhile, Jamie Eccleton also advanced to the Round of 16 as he picked up a pair of victories in the consolation bracket. He defeated Gustavo Holz of Jacksonville State 6-4, 6-2; followed with a win over Alec Doleac of Southern Miss 6-2, 6-4. He will face John Holliman of UAB - a straight set winner over Eric Mathieson of Jacksonville State - on Sunday morning at 10 am.
Sami Ghorbel fell in his first consolation match of the day, as he lost to Axel Sundberg of Jacksonville State 6-2, 6-0.
The only Trojan to make it through the first two rounds of the main draw, Anas Rouchdi lost his Round of 32 match to Carlin Murray of Louisiana-Lafayette 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday.
In doubles action, the team of Rolemberg and Rouchdi lost their Round of 32 match to Brandon Farine and Yanick Mandl of Louisiana-Lafayette 8-5; while the team of Ghorbel and Tommy Cundy pushed through to the Round of 16 with a victory over Igor Santos and Felipe Watanbe of Jacksonville State.
However, they fell to the fifth-seeded team of Danny Manlow and Daniel Moser of UAB, 8-3 in the Round of 16.
The only other team for the Trojans in doubles competition, Weber and Eccleton made it to the Round of 16 before falling on Saturday. The duo win their second round match over the team of Scott Foster and Carson Kadi of Samford 8-2; before falling to second-seeded George Copeland and Arten Ilyushin of Mississippi State 8-4 in the Round of 16.
The tournament continues Sunday on the campus of the University of Alabama.
