Trojans Host WKU Wednesday Night

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University women's basketball team will look to get back on the winning track when they play host to the Lady Toppers of WKU, who enter the Wednesday night affair on a three-game winning streak.
Troy (10-6, 3-4 Sun Belt), has lost two of their last three games, but is 6-1 at home this season with a victory over the University of North Texas last Wednesday. The game against WKU will bet the first of three games played by the Trojans at home over the next two weeks, closing out the month of January. Meanwhile, WKU (10-7, 4-2 Sun Belt) comes into the contest just two games back of East Division-leading South Alabama.
THE BASICS . . . Troy (10-6, 3-4 Sun Belt) is off to their best 16-game start under head coach Michael Murphy during his eight-year tenure ... The 3-4 start in the conference marks the same start the Trojans had through the first seven games of the conference season ... The Trojans are off to their best start since the 1996-97 team that qualified for the NCAA Tournament ...Meanwhile, WKU is in third place in the East Division, two games ahead of the Trojans and two games out of first place after a sluggish start ... The Lady Toppers have won their last three conference games ... Be the second consecutive win over the Lady Toppers ... Put the Trojans at .500 for the second time in the conference ... Be the second consecutive home victory in conference play for the Trojans.
A WIN BY THE TROJANS WOULD . . . This will be the eighth overall meeting, with the Lady Toppers leading 6-1; however Troy won the last meeting on Valentines Day last season at Trojan Arena.
A LOSS BY THE TROJANS WOULD . . . Be the seventh loss in eight games to WKU ... Drop the Trojans to five games behind the Division leaders ... Be the second home loss in conference play this season.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASE, . . . Junior Donette McNair was up to her old tricks Wednesday night against North Texas, recording her 10th career double-double in the victory with a career-high 27 points to go along with 14 rebounds ... McNair actually had the double-double in the first half when she scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds ... That marked the second time in her career that she recorded a double-double in the first half, and both of those games have taken place at Trojan Arena.
10 VICTORIES . . . With 10 victories in their first 16 games, the Trojans have all ready surpassed the number of victories of seven teams in the school's history ... They have also equaled the number of victories by two previous teams, and with one more victory will have matched the win total of two previous teams in school history.
