Trojans Wrap Up UGA Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. - The Troy University women's tennis team wrapped up preparations for the upcoming season with singles play at the UGA Invitational Sunday morning. Although they fell in each singles match on the final day, there were bright spots throughout the weekend as the Trojans faced three nationally ranked teams and a host of nationally ranked players.
On the final day of the tournament, two Trojans faced nationall-ranked foes from the fourth-ranked host Georgia Bulldogs. Leonie Guijt fell to 57th-ranked Nadja Gilchrist 6-0,6-1; while freshman Karoline Grymel fell to 14th-ranked Chelsey Gullickson 6-0,6-4. In other singles play, Lauren Simpson fell to Yvette Hyndman 6-4,6-4; while Rosaura Ramirez-Vega lost to Naoko Ueshima 6-0,6-3. In the final match of the tournament for the Trojans, freshman Emma Smith fell to Cameron Ellis 6-0,6-2.
The Trojans return to action and open the season January 23 in Fort Myers against Florida Gulf Coast University.
