Tennis Announces Signing Class

TROY, Ala. - Troy University tennis coach Eric Hayes announced the singing of five new players for the 2009-10 season. The five players will look to fill voids left by the departures of three of the top players for the Trojans due to graduation.
The class includes five players that are ranked in the top 150 in their country's rankings, as well as one player who is ranked in the top 400 in the ITF rankings. It also features the top-ranked junior from England this past year.
Karoline Grymel, a native of Norderstedt, Germany, is ranked 376th in the latest World International Tennis Federation junior rankings (ITF). She is also ranked 86th in the German Women's rankings.
Rosaura Ramirez Vega, a native of Gelves, Spain, is the second newest Trojan for the 2009-10 season. She is currenty ranked 71st in the Spanish women's rankings.
Linda Eliasson, a native of Klippebergsvagen, Sweden, is ranked in the Top 10 in the Swedish junior rankings. Meanwhile Emma Smith, a native of Bournemouth, England, is the top-ranked junior in 16 and under's in England. She has a UK rating of 3.1.
Lauren Simpson, a native of Pearce, Australia, is currently ranked 150th in the Australian women's rankings. She attended Canberra Girls Grammar School, completing her senior year in December 2008. Lauren was the captain of the tennis team (2007 and 2008) and the recipient of Full school colours for tennis. She was also Team Captain for the ACT Pizzey Cup Tennis team in 2006 and 2007. This year Tennis Australia granted Lauren a Wild Card into her first qualifying Women's Pro Circuit Tournament. Australia is ranked second in the ACT and has been ranked as high as 149 in the Australian National Tennis Rankings for Women.
