NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference released its weekly conference awards Wednesday morning, and Troy University senior sprinter Lamar Hicks won the fifth such award this season for the Trojans.
Hicks ran in two events this weekend at the South Alabama Invitational, winning a gold medal in each event. The senior won the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 21.47 seconds, defeating second-place Jesse Cummings (University of Alabama) by 0.36 seconds. He also ran a leg of the gold medal-winning team in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 40.98 seconds.
Hicks joins former winners Agata Cichoszewska (triple jump), Lamontrey Stamper (jumps) and two-time winner Tiphanie Baker (throws). The senior and the rest of the Trojans will head to Auburn for the second time this season, participating in the War Eagle Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
