BATON ROUGE, La. - A pair of Troy University women's indoor track and field athletes won medals in what could be their last indoor track and field meet of the season.
Junior Tiphanie Baker won the weight throw at the LSU Invitational with a throw of 17.30 meters (56'9.25"). She finished just short of the provisional mark of 18.75 meters and the automatic mark of 21.00 meters to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this week.
Meanwhile, senior Agata Cichoszewska must play the waiting game to see if she gets into the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held on the campus of Texas A&M this weekend. The senior all ready has met the provisional mark with a jump of 12.90 meters at the Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships, and now must see how many student-athletes the NCAA will take into the field.
This past weekend she finished second in the triple jump with a jump of 12.87 meters (42'2.75"), finishing behind LSU's Andrea Linton who finished with a NCAA provisional jump of 13.00 meters (42'8").
If Cichoszewska qualifies for the NCAA Indoors, the meet will start Friday at Texas A&M; meanwhile, the remainder of the team is preparing for the beginning of the outdoor season with the BSC Invite this weekend on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College.
