Troy Earns Academic Team Award

The Troy Trojans women's basketball team is this year's recipient of the Sun Belt Conference Academic Team Award, with the student-athletes from the 2007-08 season representing the victors. The Trojans maintained a 3.22 grade point average last season.
The Trojans also had seven past or present student-athletes in attendance who were honored for the achievement in the classroom by being named to the Commissioner's List.
Those players included seniors Larelle Roper, Brittnie Davis, Kylie Morrissy and Danielle Realph. Junior Alyce Shearing and sophomore Lucy Lindley were also rewarded for her academic work, as was current graduate assistant Audrey Muse.
“I would let the young ladies walk into my home and babysit my children,” Murphy said. “They epitomize what a student-athlete is supposed to be. They not only work hard on the court, but in the classroom. They will be great ambassadors for
Troy University Chancellor, Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. and Director of Athletic Steve Dennis were on hand to present the awards with Faculty Athletics Representative, Dr. Fred Green on Saturday afternoon.
