Trojans Face South Alabama Today

During the streak the Trojans have relied on three players averaging double figures in the run, with Kylie Morrissy leading the way by averaging 17 points per game. Junior Alyce Shearing has averaged over 13 points and Brittnie Davis 11 during the run by the Trojans. Sophomore Donette McNair, who has come off the bench in the latter half of the streak, is averaging eight points and nearly seven rebounds per game.
During the run, no one player has carried the team. It has been a team effort throughout the 10-game stretch.
“We talked about it at the beginning of the season,” Murphy said. “Without great chemistry, you have nothing. Great teams have to have great chemistry and leadership and that is what we have had down the stretch.”

“In tournament games you rarely get blowouts,” Murphy said. “In the NCAA Tournament you will because you have a different faction. But in the conference tournament, watch most games around the country, you will see a lot of close games between higher seeds and lower seeds ? and there are two reasons for that.
“Number one the higher seed knows if you lose you go home, so those shots that were easier to make in the regular season because you could rebound in your next game, that doesn't exist. And for the lower seed, what do you have to lose, nothing. So there is pressure on all sides.”

They have a style of play that incorporates the inside and outside, you have to play them honest. In tournament time it is defense and rebounding, sometimes you will struggle to shoot the ball offensively; that is what will have to carry us through.”
