Cross Country Season Concludes

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Troy University cross country teams finished off the season in fine fashion Saturday morning at the NCAA South Regionals, hosted by the University of Alabama.
Neither team entered the regionals ranked in the top 15 in the South Region, however, the Trojan men finished 15th overall in the race. They were paced by senior Denzel Ramirez with a 56th place finish overall. The senior was the fourth-highest runner from the Sun Belt Conference to cross the line as he ran a time of 32:33.59.
He was followed closely by fellow senior Jeremy Moujoodi, the fifth-highest finisher from the Sun Belt Conference to cross the line, finishing 63rd overall with a time of 32:40.05. Freshman Enock Kirui crossed the line with a 78th place finish in a time of 32:59.60, while senior Drew Horner closed out his career with a 97th place finish with a time of 33:29.79.
The other two runners in the men's field for Trojans included senior Terrence Dixon, finishing with a time of 35:06.43, and Adam Bradley
The Trojans finished with a point total of 423, second-highest among Sun Belt Conference schools in the event, in a field that featured 27 teams.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Sylvia Chirchir was the highest Trojan finisher as she crossed the line in a time of 22:08.79, finishing 61st overall. Junior Kelly Harrington finished just ahead of teammate Morgan Paulson in 142nd place. Harrington finished with a time of 24:26.02, while Paulson crossed the line in a time of 24:27.97 in 143rd place.
Anastasia Limo finished 153rd overall with a time of 24:52.11, finishing just ahead of teammate Allison Paulson with a time of 24:52.86. Chalyce Stancil finished out the runners for Troy, crossing the line in a time of 25:37.22.
The Trojans finished 22nd overall in the event with a point total of 586.
"I was pleased to see our top three men run as well as they did," Troy coach Stephane Hetherington said. "I was pleased to see them all run under 33 minutes on a very tough 10K course. We are still trying to confirm whether or not the 15th place finish was the best finish for the men in school history. On the women's side, Sylvia had a tough day, but was able to get through it."
