TROJANS HIT THE PRACTICE COURT
2:52 P.M., MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2009
TRAVIS JAROME [EMAIL]
I had a chance to speak to head coach Michael Murphy on Sunday about his team's first two days of practice and he was enthused. He said they all went hard and practice was very productive for the first two days.
The temperatures may be brisk outside, but it is heating up inside Trojan Arena these days. The Trojans are just 26 days away from their season-opening contest on the road against defending SEC champion, Auburn University.
After a short stretching period, the women took to the floor for a spirited practice. Gone from last year's team are Kylie Morrissy, Larelle Roper, Danielle Realph and Staci Mitchell. Although young on paper, the Trojans are relying on the leadership of Alyce Shearing and Brittnie Davis this season, and that has shown in the early practice periods. Some new faces on the court for the Trojans this season are Sophie Kleeman, Ieva Nagy (will redshirt this season), Cortney Hawkins and Jamesha Blake. Others who are in uniform but are not on the court today are senior Lucy Lindley, sophomore Aarika Howard and sophomore Tanae Kemp.
The Trojans will go for the next four days in the afternoon, taking off Thursday afternoon before returning to the court on Friday afternoon. You can access that media guide, by clicking here.
In preparation for Sun Belt Basketball Media Days on Wednesday morning, the Troy University women's basketball guide has been unveiled on line this season. Stay tuned for more news and notes at the conclusion of practice.
